# April 2023 News Update

New content for Valhelsia Furniture and Valhelsia Structures available now, and information on future updates!

Greetings adventurers!

This News Update is specifically focused on our mods this time. It covers some brand new changes that are available right now, and some teasers about upcoming content to look forward to in the near future!&#x20;

We'll be releasing another news update shortly with a major announcement and some news about our modpacks (including Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla 2), so make sure to stay tuned!

### <mark style="color:orange;">Valhelsia Furniture</mark>

On November 11th, 2022, we announced the release of Valhelsia Furniture, our new mod that will bring you furniture to decorate your home. We received valuable feedback from many people.

We have decided to make two changes based on your feedback. Firstly, we have simplified the furniture models to give them a feel more fitting with the art style of vanilla Minecraft. Some unnecessary detail has been removed and the textures were reworked accordingly.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/HV2Qptvf6SSoYRVEIG7E" alt=""><figcaption><p>Before 1.1.0</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/OVCP7qMpkB0qTyVgRl58" alt=""><figcaption><p>After 1.1.0</p></figcaption></figure></div>

The 1.1.0 update also includes the addition of furniture made from Mangrove Wood, to provide parity with Minecraft's Wild Update.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/qEwRlvgZTAusRW5FRQTq" alt=""><figcaption><p>A variety of Mangrove furniture.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Version 1.1.0 is now available for download for Minecraft 1.19.2, 1.19.3 and 1.19.4!

We will discuss the second change in the next section, as it relates to Valhelsia Structures.

### <mark style="color:orange;">Valhelsia Structures</mark>

We received many requests for the second change, which is the separation of Valhelsia Structures and Valhelsia Furniture.

In the 1.1.0 update, Valhelsia Structures treats Valhelsia Furniture as an optional dependency. The new system will automatically adjust each of the structures depending on whether or not Valhelsia Furniture is present.

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/ImsUgzrIlQZlcWE3FBkB" alt=""><figcaption><p>With Valhelsia Furniture.</p></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/S5Ews0SnQJyQYqC7Wcjd" alt=""><figcaption><p>Without Valhelsia Furniture.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Valhelsia Furniture isn't going to be the only optional addition for long. We are pleased to announce that Valhelsia Structures will soon have more optional integration with several third party mods. The first of these is the wonderful [Supplementaries](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/supplementaries) mod!

#### Coming Soon

We are pleased to show you a preview of the upcoming structure that will be introduced in the 1.2.0 update scheduled for 1.20 of Minecraft.

<div align="center" data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/me59Jgujnti4NNXzgLfB" alt=""><figcaption><p>The Jungle Pyramid, coming to Valhelsia Structures 1.2.0.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

The Jungle Pyramid is a reimagining of the vanilla Jungle Temple, and will completely replace the original temple with a new design. While some aspects of the new structure were inspired by the original, you will feel like you are discovering it all over again. Be careful though! The Jungle Pyramid can be deadly to unwary travellers!

# March 2022 News Update

The latest news and announcements for Valhelsia Projects.

Greetings adventurer, and welcome to the March 2022 news update from the Valhelsia Team. We have several new projects to announce, and updates on the recent development and upcoming features of several of our existing projects.

Our first announcement is a big one...

### <mark style="color:orange;">Introducing Valhelsia: Volatile!</mark>

![Valhelsia: Volatile - A brand new experimental Minecraft 1.18.2 modpack!](/files/BtaeFYWmAXuomHvGJ1G1)

#### What is Valhelsia: Volatile?

Valhelsia: Volatile is a brand new Minecraft modpack that is unlike any pack we've created before. During the development of Valhelsia 5, Mojang released the Minecraft 1.18.1 and 1.18.2 updates which included a number of internal code changes. Between updating to Minecraft 1.18 and then to 1.18.2, many mods are taking much longer to update than we first expected. Since we didn't want to release Valhelsia 5 with so many crucial mods missing (or unpolished), and didn't want to delay any further in getting mods into your hands, we needed a new approach, so Valhelsia: Volatile was born!

Why is it called Volatile? Because it's a rapidly changing experimental pack! Think of it like a modded equivalent to Mojang's snapshots for vanilla Minecraft - a chance for players to try out the very latest updates early. We'll be constantly adding and removing mods; tweaking configs, scripts, and custom features; accepting suggestions from players; and responding to feedback on a regular basis. The pack can and will change quite substantially between updates.

![](/files/D9xh3hqVkF8HNKsYiPrW)

The nature of the pack means we have the freedom to try out a load of new mods and ideas without being locked into keeping them permanently, an issue that we have run into in past packs. This also means that we can experiment with more unusual ideas than normal. We'll be taking the feedback that we get from Valhelsia: Volatile and using it not only to change future updates of Valhelsia: Volatile, but also to help shape Valhelsia 5 and other future projects.

While this approach gives us much more freedom, it also comes with some obvious downsides that we need to be upfront about. Because of the ever-changing nature of the pack, it will be inherently unstable, so we can't guarantee that your world will be safe (don't get too attached), and we can't provide the same level of support that we would normally offer, given the unstable nature of the pack and its updates. This pack is built for players who want to try out cutting-edge features or to help shape our packs, not for those looking for a new long-term playthrough! You have been warned!

With all that said, we hope you have fun with our experiments, and [please let us know](https://discord.com/invite/rdfQuaM) what you think of any of the changes we make - it may make the difference between whether they stay or go!

### <mark style="color:orange;">Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla</mark>

Since Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla was first released in December of 2021, we have been hard at work updating it, including the first major content update back in February as well as several minor updates.&#x20;

![Earning skill points through advancements, added in patch 1.1.0.](/files/o6yJxH3VIvqOgtlrxsUV)

We've added a [new method](https://wiki.valhelsia.net/modpacks/valhelsia-enhanced-vanilla/knowledgebase) to level up via advancements, new [Dungeons](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/yungs-better-dungeons-fabric) and updated [Strongholds](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/yungs-better-strongholds-fabric) to explore, [Artifacts](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/artifacts-fabric) and treasure to find, new building options (including the ever-popular Chisels and Bits) and details for your home (such as mannequins and plushies), and a large number of quality of life changes, user interface improvements, translations, and bug fixes.

![New dungeons and strongholds to explore, deep below the surface of the world.](/files/djJdVWLKfLQBIcnrE0kf)

The most recent update has added the fantastic [Ecologics](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/ecologics) mod, a biome update mod that combines brilliantly with the [Terralith](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/terralith) world generation in the pack. With it comes overhauled beaches, deserts, snowy biomes, and plains. Each of these updates includes new flora and fauna as well as interesting new mechanics.

![Camels and Cacti...](/files/ci5QOCH7vzKh6qJ3BSmO) ![...Coconuts and Crabs!](/files/T9d4df8xHYJfoVPLwEFp)

We're really happy with the direction that Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla is moving in, and are really excited about what the future holds for it as we add more content to explore in the coming months.

### <mark style="color:orange;">Valhelsia Structures</mark>

Valhelsia Structures has just had an initial release for Forge in Minecraft 1.18.2! With it we have moved to using Mojang's new structure tags to replace what used to be in the config file, so modpack creators now have the ability to place our structures in whichever biomes they like via datapack. This update also increases the frequency that structures are encountered by default.

We have also recently started using CrowdIn to provide translations for Valhelsia Structures, allowing for more languages to be supported. We are seeking help from the community to translate it, and you can find out how to [contribute translations here](https://wiki.valhelsia.net/navigation/translation/) if you think you can help!

#### Coming Soon

We have been working on redesigns of the houses and dungeons, including several new blocks. In order to add all of the furnishings that we wanted to include, we have also been working on a new mod to add custom furniture to our structures.

![A table and some chairs naturally generated inside the forge.](/files/0NXdmrmoDMCW8qrZUNYJ)

It isn't just the structures that have been redesigned, there are also new surroundings for some of them, having them fit more naturally into the environment around them. There are a number of entirely new structures in development!

![A chicken coop generated with this house, but the eagle-eyed among you might notice new block types, too!](/files/o4mWXsHU944k33MAyi0b) ![A pumpkin patch lies nearby this updated house, which has been overhauled to integrate blocks from Caves & Cliffs!](/files/gma0aMabHS9gZgrZ7QOW)

![Dungeons are perhaps even more ominous than they were before!](/files/da8fi3ulkogfQX9n2zDe)

#### Fabric Support

A number of people have been asking us for a Fabric port of Valhelsia Structures, and we too have been wanting one so that we can add our structures to Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla. We're glad to announce that one is coming! Because we have a small team, we can't give a firm release date yet, but please stay tuned for more information.

### <mark style="color:orange;">Valhelsia Furniture</mark>

Valhelsia Furniture is our take on a furniture mod for Minecraft. While there are several furniture mods that already exist for Minecraft, none of the existing options really fit our vision for what a furniture mod could be. In addition to having full integration with Valhelsia Structures, this mod can also be used separately, giving you a wide range of new options to detail your home.&#x20;

The first furnishings that we are proud to reveal are tables, chairs, and stools. Each of these is available in every type of Minecraft wood, and with coverings of various styles and colors.

![Just a select few of the dozens of furniture variations that are available.](/files/pLckUR2XrAAwt2w0l42b)

The furniture added by the mod is fully functional, including features for technical players as well as builders. Players and mobs alike can sit on chairs and stools, applying a redstone signal will kick off any mob (or player) that is currently sitting on it, and a comparator will provide a redstone signal if there is anything sitting on it, varying in strength depending on the occupant.

# December 2021 News Update

Welcome to the Valhelsia news update for December 2021. With the release of Minecraft 1.18, we felt like it was the perfect time to provide an update to several of our projects as well as to reveal several entirely new ones. But first, we'd like to introduce our new partners!

### New Partnerships

We want to offer you the best possible experience while playing our modpacks. That's why we are happy to announce our new partnerships with two fantastic artists!&#x20;

Up first is [xalixilax](https://twitter.com/xalixilax), the creator of [*xali's Enhanced Vanilla*](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/xalis-enhanced-vanilla)*,* [*xali's Enchanted Books*](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/xalis-enchanted-books)*,* and many other fantastic resource packs.

These resource packs update the base game to make it look a bit more natural with blending between blocks, texture variants, and better models - all while keeping a style consistent with vanilla Minecraft.

![Bushier leaves and dirt blending adds a nice touch to the landscape.](/files/AHyHlCWN3BnYhE6QY9mX)

![Swamps are now much more interesting, with floating algae and several lily pad variants.](/files/NpXwUpjqzpeLqR3kiPHR)

The second texture pack artist is CesarZorak, who is already known for the art of [Forbidden and Arcanus](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/forbidden-arcanus). Some of his work has already been included in Valhelsia Structures and Valhelsia Tweaks, with more to come in the future!

This resource pack renders ores in 3D with inspiration from the art styles of [Hytale](https://hytale.com/) and [Jappa](https://twitter.com/JasperBoerstra), the lead artist of Minecraft. These changes make spelunking in the new caves an awesome experience.

![Fantasy Ores by CesarZorak](/files/YAcqTX5vNac04qnuvg06)

We are extremely pleased to announce the creation of two new resource packs in collaboration with these two artists: [xali's Enhanced Modded x Valhelsia](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/xalis-enhanced-modded-x-valhelsia) and [Fantasy Ores x Valhelsia](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/fantasy-ores-x-valhelsia). These both add additional compatibility with our modpacks and therefore the best possible experience for you. All of the above resource packs will be integrated and activated by default in our upcoming modpacks. The first modpack to benefit from these additions will be our new Minecraft 1.18 modpack...

### Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla

We are pleased to announce Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla, our first Minecraft 1.18 modpack! We have overhauled Valhelsia Fabric with a new vision and direction for the pack, and what better way to introduce it than a trailer?

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/ZkosDmjMmjg>" %}

In *Valhelsia: Enhanced Vanilla*, your abilities evolve through a system of skills and levels (a bit like an RPG), adding new challenge to the early game and giving clear objectives to work towards as you play. At the outset of the adventure, you start with just 3 hearts and 1 point to assign to skills. As you level different skills you will unlock new weapons, armor, tools, and will be able to work with different mods, giving you access to new technologies and magic. Combat difficulty has also been tuned, and while you may be relatively safe near spawn, you'll soon find that monsters get far tougher once you start to travel!

The modpack adds a great deal of immersion to your game thanks to the different mods that improve the visual aspect of the game. Alongside the resource packs, the [Complementary Shaders](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/customization/complementary-shaders) shader pack is also included and activated by default with the kind permission of [EminGTR](https://twitter.com/emingtr), the developer. There are five different profiles for the shader pack that can be selected in the video settings menu, which allows you to focus on performance, quality, or somewhere in-between. We think the results speak for themselves though, just check out the screenshots below!

![](/files/cnq0vou8fZU01KVzYvkm) ![](/files/FRKsUabNdIUuzlxr4oZE) ![Oh. A meteorite?](/files/vifAL7bHvlRbMq7Qi3j4)

To guide you through this pack, [Jangro](https://twitter.com/jangro) has written a guide that will be available both on the wiki and in-game for a next update.

We have been working behind the scenes to develop and polish the pack for quite some time. Our first version is now ready, many new features will arrive as we go along, and we hope to see what you get up to with it!

### Valhelsia 3, 4, and... 5?&#x20;

Minecraft 1.18 has just been released! Early development work has begun on Valhelsia 5, which we are hugely excited about. Minecraft 1.18 adds with it many new possibilities for modding, particularly due to the world generation overhaul. We expect to release the first public version of Valhelsia 5 early in 2022, after several key mods have updated to Minecraft 1.18.&#x20;

You may be wondering what this news means for the future of Valhelsia 3 and 4. We have decided to follow the same [support policy](https://twitter.com/LexManos/status/1461009490027769861) as Forge. Valhelsia 3 will remain entirely supported and updated for the time being, since Minecraft 1.16 modding is still fairly active. You can expect to see new Valhelsia 3 releases for at least the next few months. However, since Forge is dropping support for Minecraft 1.17 (and most modders are doing the same), we will be discontinuing the development of Valhelsia 4 around the same time Valhelsia 5 is released. It will still be downloadable and playable, but will no longer get new updates or official support.

# Valhelsia Structures: Patch 0.1.0 - The Witch Hut

Hi everybody! The witch has concocted something new: the first Valhelsia Structures update of 2021! The update is overflowing with new blocks and interesting things to discover, so follow us and let's check out the patch notes.

First of all, as you might have noticed this is not the Jungle Update that we revealed previously. We have decided to split the update into two parts in order to offer you some of the new features and fixes now without needing to rush the features that aren’t finished. We prefer to take our time to provide you with something that we are fully satisfied with, which is not yet the case for the full Jungle Update. The second part of the update will arrive later this year.

### Witch Hut

The witch has found a new home to concoct her potions. There have been rumors among the villagers that she captures people to experiment on, so be careful if you venture into her territory.

### Spawner Dungeon

Formerly known as Small Dungeon, it has now been renamed to Spawner Dungeon. To fit with the new name it now has a new room with a spawner, this can be a zombie, skeleton or spider spawner.

The entire dungeon has been redesigned to be more interesting to explore, including some of the new blocks from the update.

Other rooms will arrive in the next updates to increase the variety.

### Rework of the Forge and Desert House

The Forge and the Desert House have been overhauled to be a bit larger and more detailed, while keeping the same overall feel of the older versions. Other variations of these structures may arrive in future updates.

These two structures are now inhabited by a villager who has decided to become a hermit, living apart from the other villagers. Please be nice with them, and don't take their bed.

![The blacksmith should be careful with that Bee Nest under his roof.

We have made further improvements to the Desert House, which now has features that are generated around the structure. It can be an oasis or a well, but the list of potential surrounding features will be expanded as updates are made.

### New Decorative Blocks

With this update comes new decorations, these are intended to add new a variety of fine details to your builds while blending in well with the vanilla Minecraft aesthetic.

**Jar and Big Jar:** Available in a multitude of different colors, they can be very useful to decorate your home. A large and a small one is available with the possibility of putting a flower in the small version. You can find them in our different structures, and those found in dungeons can be broken to get a small reward. These are craftable using the appropriate color of terracotta.

![](https://paper-attachments.dropbox.com/s_74328F9F6A3FAB60235E4A2C7BAF69758110CA12A690F2AF812DAF579C1844CC_1620247684893_jar+-+big+jar.png)

**Hanging Vines:** These are vines that grow like Weeping Vines. While aesthetically similar to regular vines, they can be hung from ceilings, allowing you to add vegetation to more places than before.

**Doused Torch:** An unlit torch that you can relight by right clicking on it with a Flint and Steel. To obtain a Doused Torch you just have to douse a regular torch with water in the same way as waterlogging a block.

**Bone Pile & Bone Pile Block:** You can find these in some structures, mainly the Dungeons. I imagine that these piles of bones belong to former adventurers where their story ended badly... These are craftable from bones.

**Dungeon Door:** Present at the entrance of the Spawner Dungeon, it is imposing. It is as resistant as Obsidian and cannot be crafted.&#x20;

### Improvements to the Player House and Castle

We decided to change the foundation of the Player House to something more logical. The materials of the floor and roof were also changed to better match the structure. Extra features are now also generated around the Player House in the same way as the Desert House, such as a garden or part of a Nether portal.

A new variant is also available for the Player House, surrounded by scaffolding and under construction still.

The castle has received some minor improvements to the courtyard to incorporate the new jar blocks. You can now find a horse in the stable too.

### New Structure: The Big Tree

Large vine-covered oak trees now spawn occasionally in plains and forest biomes. There’s more to these trees than first meets the eye, so it may be rewarding to investigate more closely.

### Miscellaneous Additions & Updates

There are also many small additions and changes with this update. Many of the blocks added aren’t yet used in any structures but have been provided for you to build with in the meantime.

* Pillagers have been added to some ruins. The loot is no longer entirely undefended!
* The Soul Brazier is a new blue-flamed variant of the Brazier to match the Soul Torch, Lantern, and Campfire added in the Minecraft Nether update.
* Similarly, Warped Posts and Crimson Posts have been added, crafted using an axe and the appropriate log type in the same way as the existing posts.
* Posts can now be cut with an axe again to form Cut Posts, a thin layerable version of a regular post.
* Structure generation has been improved to fit the surrounding terrain better.
* Paintings have been removed from inside structures. These previously dropped to the ground after the generation of the structures in some cases.
* Grass can no longer spread to the dirt roads.
* All loot tables have been adjusted to be more interesting.
* Structures are now more common by default, in most worlds they should be easier to find.

# 2021 - News Update: New and Upcoming Valhelsia Features

Greetings from the Valhelsia Team!

Now that a brand new year is upon us we felt it was due time for a news update to share with you our plans for the upcoming year.&#x20;

We would like to begin by wishing everybody here a very happy new year! (yeah we are a little late) Thank you for the huge support that you have given us during 2020. It was a huge year for us with the release of three modpacks along with big updates to Valhelsia Structures and the initial development of several new mods.&#x20;

This is a particularly special time for us, as we have just passed two million downloads of Valhelsia 2 and one million downloads of Valhelsia 3! Thank you all for helping us reach these amazing milestones!

Over the past few months the Valhelsia Team has grown and we have been hard at work on some new projects as well as updates to existing projects that we would like to share with you now.

### Valhelsia 3

![](https://valhelsia.net/uploads/a9007efa81e3fa9ded87c5af3bb394661e8c8d71f1bf5aa1bf.png)

We have come a long way since the first edition of our modpack. Thanks to the experience gained from the development of Valhelsia 1 & 2 and Valhelsia: Origins, we have managed to offer you a 3rd Edition that is more optimized, enriched and enjoyable to play.&#x20;

Our next goal is to balance all the mods, so that mods fit as well as possible alongside each other, vanilla Minecraft, and our own modding vision. Version 3.1.8 has introduced the first changes in this direction, where we have completely balanced all of the armor, weapons and tools from Mekanism. The upcoming releases will be focused on continued balancing.

### Valhelsia 3: New Dimensions

![Preview of the work in progress of the 1.16 development for The Aether mod by the official twitter account.](https://valhelsia.net/uploads/b564488d0a0fac8f65098c854ef797360c3421e80678b6e8e1.png)

Our next plans for new additions will be to introduce the first new dimensions to Valhelsia 3! “The Twilight Forest”, “The Aether” and “Atum 2: Return to the Sands” are the first candidates, but this is subject to change based on how long it takes the developers to port their mod to 1.16 and whether the ports are stable enough to include.

### Valhelsia Tweaks

While Valhelsia Tweaks is currently a small mod that adds only minor changes to the pack, we have big plans to expand it in the near future to add new features to Valhelsia! Some examples are a blood moon, a chunk loading and claim system, and various texture improvements. Valhelsia Tweaks is a mod that we will use for many small additions to the pack in the future too, so stay tuned for an announcement!

### Valhelsia Structures

In September we announced that the next big content update for Valhelsia Structures is the Jungle Update! We brought on board [MCVinnyq](https://twitter.com/MCVinnyq) as a artist for this update, and Cynthal as a builder to design new structures, joining the existing Valhelsia Structures team members - Khytwel, Stal, and Vaelzan. The team has been hard at work and we are proud to share some sneak peeks of the new update.

It won't be long now before it will be in your hands ready for you to explore the new additions to the jungle! After the Jungle Update we will dive straight into work on the next content update. We can’t reveal the theme just yet, but stay tuned for an announcement!

### Valhelsia Quests

Next up is Valhelsia Quests. We have been wanting to bring quests to Valhelsia for quite a while now, but instead of adding quests via a book like many other packs we wanted them to be something rather special. We have been developing a custom mod that allows players to obtain quests by exploring the world and talking with characters you can find. Some of these characters will be found in villages, others will be found in structures from Valhelsia Structures, and some will occasionally seek you out similarly to a Wandering Trader. We really wanted to add a huge exploration and adventure factor to our quests, and thanks to the hard work of Stal and the team we are well on the way to achieving this goal.&#x20;

Valhelsia Quests will be available later in 2021, but for now we want to share some screenshots of the work in progress.

### Other Packs

Now that the majority of mod developers have moved on to working on Minecraft 1.16.5, updates on Valhelsia 2 and Valhelsia Origins have slowed down. These packs will still receive support on Discord and will receive small updates occasionally, but it is unlikely that major updates will come to these packs in the future now that the majority of our efforts are for Minecraft 1.16.5 and beyond.

### Recruitment: Join the Valhelsia Team!

We are still searching for new members for the Valhelsia Team. In particular, if you are experienced with the pack or with technical support, we are in need of support and helper team members.

Helpers are a new role on Discord that we are introducing in order to distinguish community members who have proven themselves by assisting others when needed, whether that is in-game help with mods or assistance with troubleshooting. This is a role that people are welcome to volunteer for, but we will also be reaching out to members of the community who we feel are a good fit for it from time to time. It should be noted that Helpers are not obligated to help out at any particular time - we recognise that people often lead busy lives and can only help during certain times and days, so this is more recognition of past assistance and intention to help out in the future when available.

[If you are interested, you can apply here](https://forms.gle/6DDAgGMG8mvwKgfM7).

We would like to thank the entire Valhelsia Team for their hard work over the past year, as well as the various contributors that have allowed us to use their work in our packs.

Finally, we would like to thank each and every one of you that has played any of our packs or mods. We’re extremely grateful for the active community on Discord, with many people helping each other out, posting in our gallery, or even creating video series or live streaming Valhelsia! It’s all of you guys that have helped us to expand Valhelsia from a small hobby project into something that has become more successful than any of us originally could have dreamed of. Thank you.

We hope you have a great 2021, and that you enjoy the new content coming soon. We’d like to leave you now with one final sneak preview.
